Privacy policy

Your privacy, looked after.

Paulette spent 32 years as a nurse, where confidentiality is second nature. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information Elevate Beyond collects, why, and how we protect it under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Last updated: 22 October 2026

1. Who we are

Elevate Beyond is a life and mindset coaching, workshop and speaking business run by Paulette Coombes, based in Hamilton, New Zealand. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Elevate Beyond.

Questions about privacy? Contact Paulette directly at paulette@elevatebeyond.co.nz or 021 222 9114. Paulette is our Privacy Officer.

2. What we collect

  • Contact details — your name, email address, phone number and, for business enquiries, your organisation.
  • Enquiry and booking details — what you tell us in forms, emails or calls, appointment times and answers to booking questions.
  • Event registrations — ticket details and anything you choose to share, such as dietary or accessibility needs.
  • Coaching information — notes from sessions and programmes. This can include personal information about your health, wellbeing, relationships or goals that you choose to share. We treat it as confidential and handle it with extra care.
  • Payment information — payments are processed by secure third-party providers. We do not see or store your full card details.
  • Website information — technical details such as pages visited, device and browser type, collected through cookies (see section 9).

3. How we collect it

Mostly directly from you: when you fill in a form on this website, book a call, buy a ticket, join our mailing list, email, call or message us, or take part in coaching. Occasionally we receive it from someone else with your knowledge — for example, an event organiser booking Paulette to speak, or a friend who registers you for a workshop.

4. Why we use it

We only collect what we need, and we use it to:

  • reply to your enquiry and arrange calls, coaching, workshops and speaking engagements
  • deliver our services and keep appropriate coaching records
  • send booking confirmations, reminders and receipts
  • send our newsletter and event news, if you have agreed to receive them
  • meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
  • understand how our website is used so we can improve it

5. Emails and marketing

We follow the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. We only send marketing emails or texts to people who have agreed to receive them, or where there is an existing relationship that makes it reasonable to infer consent. Every marketing email identifies Elevate Beyond and includes a working unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending you marketing messages promptly, and always within five working days. Booking confirmations and other service messages are not marketing and will still be sent while you have a booking with us.

6. Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only when needed with trusted providers who help us run the business, such as:

  • our website, booking, CRM and email platform (Odoo)
  • payment processors for ticket and programme payments
  • video-call and calendar tools used for online sessions
  • our accountant, for tax and record-keeping

Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand. When that happens we take reasonable steps, as the Privacy Act requires, to make sure your information is protected to a standard comparable to New Zealand law.

We will only disclose information otherwise if you agree, if the law requires it, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious threat to someone’s life, health or safety. Coaching is confidential; that last situation is the rare exception, and Paulette will always try to talk with you first.

7. How we keep it safe, and for how long

Your information is stored on secure, password-protected systems with access limited to Paulette and anyone working with her who needs it. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Financial records are kept for seven years, as New Zealand tax law requires. Coaching notes are kept securely for the same period after our last session unless you ask us to delete them sooner, where we are able to.

If a privacy breach happens that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as the Privacy Act requires.

8. Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. Just email Paulette. We will respond as soon as we can, and within 20 working days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please talk to us first so we can put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.

9. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies to work properly (for example, to remember your session and booking progress) and to understand how visitors use the site, so we can make it more useful. We use Google Analytics for this. It tells us things like which pages are visited, how people found us and whether they signed up for an event. We don’t use it to identify you personally, and we don’t use advertising or tracking cookies to follow you around the internet.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on any website with Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Some parts of the site may not work as well without cookies.

10. Young people

Some workshops are open to people aged 12 and over. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to register for you and to contact us with any questions about your information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
